Our Story

Founded in 1961, Fox & Hearn, Inc. began when Jim Hearn and Curt Fox came to Austin from Houston to work on the State Capitol renovation. Inspired by the city’s growth and opportunity, they, along with Jim’s brother David, decided to stay and build a new kind of mechanical contracting firm focused on quality, integrity, and craftsmanship.

What started as a small operation installing commercial plumbing, heating, and air conditioning systems quickly grew into a trusted name across Central Texas. Through hands-on leadership and a strong commitment to ethics, Fox & Hearn earned a reputation for fairness, reliability, and long-lasting client relationships.

When Curt and Jim pursued new ventures in the 1970s, David and his wife Juanelle carried the company forward, balancing hard work, lean operations, and dedication to both employees and customers. Their leadership built a foundation of loyalty and excellence that still defines the company today.

By the 1990s, Fox & Hearn had expanded beyond Austin, successfully completing major commercial and institutional mechanical projects throughout Texas and beyond. In 1998, the second generation, Susan and Ron Janecka, took the helm, continuing the legacy of honest work, skilled craftsmanship, and dependable service.

Today, more than 60 years later, Fox & Hearn remains a leading commercial HVAC and plumbing contractor in Austin, TX, known for delivering high-quality mechanical systems that stand the test of time.
